NSAP: Norfolk Safeguarding awareness project

The Norfolk Safeguarding Awareness Project was a new approach to providing specialised targeted information that aimed to inform children and lower the incidence of Domestic Abuse by making it possible to discuss these issues in an age-appropriate way in classrooms.  NSAP was inclusive as the films were also designed for hard to reach communities and could be produced in any language.

NSAP was about producing films - that had been collaboratively devised by Police Officers, NHS professionals, Domestic Abuse coordinators, teachers, parents and children - that could be translated into any language in the world, on subjects that everyone found hard to talk about.  Subjects like Unlawful Chastisement, Child Abandonment, Honour Based Abuse, Emotional Abuse and Domestic Abuse.

After an extensive consultation process, the message was that people wanted us to improve information resources on these topics at all levels and that there was a massive gap between what most people knew about these issues and what they needed to know.  These films are accessible to everyone in Norfolk because they are available online.
